On Saturday, June 8, the Uni created a place to gather, read, and learn, right in the middle of Louis Niñé Boulevard in the Crotona East area of the Bronx. The street was closed to traffic that day thanks to the Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDCo), Southern Boulevard Merchant Association, and NYCDOT, which organized a Weekend Walk event called Bronx Summer Fest on the Boulevard. WHEDco tweeted “The kids had a blast learning how to use #microscopes!” Great day in the Bronx, and we’re looking forward to working with these terrific partners again soon.
Thanks to Amelia Carver and her mother for working in the Uni, and thanks to Nelson De Jesus from Parsons for installing. Scroll down for the return of aerial photography of the Uni (courtesy of my metro card and the 2 platform at Freeman St).
