blickThe Uni Project began with books. For several years now, we’ve offered New Yorkers the chance to read at staffed, open-air reading rooms that pop-up across the city in parks, plazas, and other public spaces. That’s still our game, in a big way. But in 2015, we’re adding something new to the mix: drawing.

This Sunday July 12, from 11-1, our new DRAW NYC cart will visit Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park alongside our familiar reading room cart. We’ll use this opportunity to celebrate a new partnership with Blick Art Materials, which has generously donated high-quality materials to outfit our new drawing program.blick_200

Read. Draw. Together. NYC.

About our “new” name… Street Lab.

Street Lab began in Boston in 2006. In 2011, we moved the organization to NYC and launched the Uni Project, which was a portable reading room that roamed the city. In 2020, we are re-introducing our original name Street Lab to tie all this work together going forward, with much more to come.
