Calling NYC architects and designers! Join a charrette hosted by Open Architecture New York on Thursday, May 16 and help design a communal table that we’ll use in public spaces across the city to bring New Yorkers together. We’re constantly rolling out new programs for the street, and we need a beautiful, efficient, and stable(!) solution to share inspiring things with New Yorkers of all ages. The tables will be used for building LEGO at a play street, sharing typewriters in our new program called WRITE, creating communal drawing activities, and more. Help us create an eye-catching, portable table that we can share in 150+ public spaces across all five boroughs.

The charrette will be a fun night for designers, and the winning team will be selected by a panel of jurors to further develop and build their design concept. Sign up here!

About our “new” name… Street Lab.

Street Lab began in Boston in 2006. In 2011, we moved the organization to NYC and launched the Uni Project, which was a portable reading room that roamed the city. In 2020, we are re-introducing our original name Street Lab to tie all this work together going forward, with much more to come.
