A generous donation to Street Lab, in memory of Helen and Michael Shields

The support of individual donors goes directly to Street Lab’s work in low-income and underserved neighborhoods across NYC, which now represents over 81% of our work overall. Simply put: individuals let us do our best work where it is needed most.

Below is the inspiring story behind a donation from Eileen Shields in memory of her parents, a story that we have been sharing with New Yorkers at our pop-ups in the Bronx and Brooklyn. Helen and Michael Shields were determined to instill in their children a love of learning and a belief in the value of education. We’re grateful that Eileen is supporting Street Lab’s work to create places where other families can gather around these same values.
