535 pop-ups in 2024, expanding what’s possible on the street

As we close out 2024, here’s a quick look at just one of the 535 pop ups Street Lab is on pace to complete this year. Local bike club Pinapple Ride reached out to Street Lab this fall with a beautiful idea: creating a pedestrian plaza on a dead end street that runs right to the water in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. To get them rolling, Street Lab assisted with planning, permitting, and production of a pop-up that brought the vision to life for a day, letting the neighborhood show the potential of this underutilized space to be so much more than a parking lot. More to come in 2025 on Bay Parkway and in spaces like this all over the city where Street Lab is making a place for community.
