In 2019, our collaboration with NYC Department of Transportation will keep expanding, as we work together to activate plazas, street festivals, and other public spaces and encourage residents to come together on neighborhood streets. This weekend, we kicked things off off by deploying READ, a pop-up reading room, and EXPLORE, an urban nature exhibit, at a Weekend Walk hosted by LUNGS (Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens). And we brought in birds and bird facts from Washington Square Park Eco Projects! Learn more about our partnership with NYC DOT here and check our upcoming events here.

About our “new” name… Street Lab.

Street Lab began in Boston in 2006. In 2011, we moved the organization to NYC and launched the Uni Project—a portable reading room for public space. In 2020, we are re-introducing our original name Street Lab to tie all of our work together going forward, with much more to come.
