Soccer Streets for NYC Schools!

Soccer is coming to New York in a big way this summer, and the City wants to give kids at New York City Public Schools a chance to celebrate together on neighborhood streets.

Street Lab is teaming up with the NYC Mayor’s Office, NYC Dept. of Transportation, NYC Public Schools, and Chobani to enable 50 schools to host soccer celebrations on streets next to schools leading up to the 2026 games. From May 1 through June 26, Street Lab will transform these streets into places where students, families, and neighbors can kick a ball, make flags, and celebrate with the whole school community.

Teachers and Administrators:
please submit an expression of interest below to bring Soccer Streets to your school!

Activities on the street:

  • Learning drills, relay games, and small-scale matches, designed for accessibility and inclusion, for all ages and abilities;
  • Creative activities: flag-making and mural-making;
  • Custom elements and seating to make a welcoming space for gathering.

Two ways to participate

  • Signature event: Street Lab produces and runs the event on a street in front of your school
  • DIY kit: Street Lab delivers materials so you can run your own celebration

Priority will be given to schools that lack outdoor or other dedicated physical activity space, but we’ll do our best to help as many schools celebrate as possible. And if we can’t find a way to work with you this spring, we’d love to work with you next school year!
