Art Lab in the Park
a special collaboration between Street Lab + Queens Museum
Art Lab in the Park is an open-air art studio in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, right next to Queens Museum. It offers art making workshops for children of families waiting in line for the La Jornada Food Pantry at Queens Museum. The need is great, and the line can be long—we’ll be there to help kids be engaged, happy, and safe while families pick up food. Ideal for kids ranging from 3 – 12 years old, the installation also features Street Lab’s no-touch obstacle course and PLAY NYC program. Masks are required, and free masks and hand-sanitizer will be provided on-site.
Art Lab in the Park is part of Street Lab’s Inside Out initiative which helps bring the offerings of the city’s cultural institutions outside. Made possible in 2020 by the NYC Green Relief & Recovery Fund at the City Parks Foundation, and in 2021 by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Street Lab cultural programs are supported citywide by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
