Equipment Library for Public Space puts Street Lab designs in the hands of our community partners

Oct 6, 2023

Street Lab’s Equipment Library for Public Space lets community groups in New York City borrow Street Lab’s custom-designed furniture and programming kits to activate neighborhood public spaces across the city. The first of its kind, the Library allows groups to copy our model and put their own spin on the kind of pop-up that Street Lab does across the boroughs.

Launched with support from the NYC Dept. of Small Business Services and NYC Dept. of Transportation, the Library has already lent out programming kits 258 times to 46 community groups, including 34 Business Improvement Districts, enabling 176 days of activation.

In 2024, our goal is to double the capacity of the Library, putting more resources in the hands of communities that are creating vibrant and inspiring public spaces across the city.
